99% Fail!

Yesterday Nancy and I went to hear a presentation given by a ministry leader from a large Southeast Asian country. I had met “A” a couple years ago and it was good to connect with him again — this time in Spokane. “A” leads a ministry that establishes reading posts and libraries. These libraries are popular and highly treasured by their communities. They help to improve the atrocious literacy rate and provide a venue to explore religious and philosophical thought beyond Islam which dominates the country. “A’s” ministry helps church planters start and maintain libraries, providing them a respectable way to enter Muslim communities.

The success of the library strategy is particularly significant and welcome because of the¬†ineffectiveness¬†of other entry strategies that are being attempted. Usually the indigenous church planters try to establish themselves in a community through some kind of business venture. A friend of mine who has served in “A’s” country for many years estimates that 99% of these businesses fail. Business failures result in embarrassed church planters, wasted Kingdom resources, and thwarted presentations of the gospel.

What if we could provide training that would decrease the failure rate from 99% to something closer to 50% or even lower? This is the kind of value we add through Anda Leadership. We help these entrepreneurs, particularly those who are struggling to succeed in countries like “A’s.”
